Paddlewheeler Creole Queen

Constructed in Moss Point, Mississippi, the Paddlewheeler Creole Queen took her maiden voyage on October 1, 1983. She is an authentic paddlewheeler powered by a 24 foot diameter paddlewheel and the most modern, fuel efficient GE diesel-electric system ever installed in a boat of this class. Even though the Creole Queen would have been right at home in the New Orleans of 1850, passengers of that era could never have conceived of a paddlewheeler with her luxury, comfort and safety. Ninety tons of air conditioning and heating keep the interior spaces pleasant all year round. Luxurious private rooms, stereo music and sound systems, modern restrooms and handicapped accessible facilities all combine to make the Paddlewheeler Creole Queen a true "floating palace."

The Creole Queen features outer decks with authentically patterned wrought iron trims inviting guests to stroll back in time as they settle into the mood of a bygone era. The interiors are richly appointed with plush Victorian style draperies, soft period lighting, wooden parquet dance floors, and Louisiana Cypress bars accented with brass railing for a warm and welcoming setting.

Swamp Boat Tour - FAQ

Will we see Cypress Trees and Alligators?
Yes, we are smack in the middle of the Barataria-Terrebonne Estuary (swamp country) that contains wetland suitable for the Bald Cypress and the Great Cypress. We conduct our tours on private property where there is no hunting allowed so expect to see alligators.

What makes your company better than the rest?
We conduct our tours on private property and have been doing so for 12 years. This means no competition in the area, less boat traffic to scare the animals, we can provide the most private tours possible. All of our Captains are born and raised on the Bayou and we travel through natural wetlands, swamp, and bayous through out the tour.

When is the best time of year to take a Swamp or Airboat Tour?
Spring is incredible with all the animals doing what animals do while the trees and many flowers are in bloom and the nesting period for the waterfowl begin. Summertime is warm and humid which brings out the big Alligators and big birds like the Great Blue Herring and the White Egret. Fall is spectacular with very pleasant weather, an abundance of animals and beautiful foliage. With our mild winters this is a great time of year also, winter brings out the fur-bearing (fuzzy) animals, like Nutria, deer, mink, otters and the migratory birds and alligators are still present as long as it is not below freezing.

Are mosquitoes a problem in the swamp?
No not really. During daylight hours you will have to search high and low to find one so they are not a concern. At dawn and dusk they can be present however our swamp has a tidal flow so we do not have stagnate waters that are the breeding ground for mosquitoes. We do suggest that you take precautionary measures with adding mosquitoes repellent.

Are there restrooms - food and drink on the tour boats?
Yes, on the swamp boats we do have a restroom and we do have snacks and drinks available. On the airboat there are no restrooms or food available but we do have facilities at the swamp tour site and snacks at the ticket office.
